DO IT YOURSELF (DIY) MEDIA PLATFORM

PERSONAL INSIGHT:

Digital advertising is one of the best marketing strategies currently available. I prefer marketing products through digital platforms because of its effectiveness in reaching potential clients. The method is less expensive considering that marketing agents do not have to travel worldwide to convince clients. Within a short period, one can communicate to a large number of people who are located in distant and different places worldwide. Owners of e-commerce businesses have a variety of options to choose regarding e-commerce platforms or shopping carts whereby each of the alternatives is easy to manage and deploy.

Do-It-Yourself (DIY) digital platform enables a marketer to customize or build informational or physical objects and services (Hahn, Marconnet, & Reid, 2016). To be successful in enlarging customer base through this platform, it is vital to define your key performance indicators. In other words, the marketer should come up with quantifiable performance indicators derived from the set business goals so as to evaluate progress of the marketing activities. Examples of these measures may include the number of conversations held, collected email leads, and sales targets. This is followed by the identification of group of people who are likely to purchase your products or services. For example, games kits are targeted to mainly athletes. Understanding of the personality and traits of your potential customers will help you to tailor your products in a manner that suits the needs of the customer. In connection to this, some profiles of the potential customers are displayed. Determining personality of a client will involve finding his or her details of age, gender, their residential area, their jobs, needs and desires and through this, you will be able to know how your product is likely to satisfy him or her.

Advancements in technology have led to more people adopting the Do It Yourself (DIY) since through that, they can accomplish tasks which previously required hiring of a technician or expert. There is no need to hire an intermediately to carry out a task which of course you can do it yourself effectively using your mobile phone or computer. People can build their portfolio, monitor and probably balance it at their own will. However, you this has to be done carefully. Although you have all the information used by the financial professionals, you may not have similar level of expertise as they.

There are five tips I can use to build my own portfolio which consist of automatic future systems. First is to determine if there is a risk and the magnitude of the risk which you are capable of allocating into the portfolio. All the automated systems have capital requirements. Therefore, evaluating the available capital for portfolio allocation determines how many systems will be sub scribed to. Secondly, identify criteria of performance as well as parameters which form your first priority. In the event you engage in speculative situations, it is important to derive performance expectations. This involves deciding what may constitute a good or poor performance. A good performance during poor economic conditions may differ with good performance target under normal circumstances. Then you arrange your criteria orderly starting with the most important ones. The most important criterion in your case should explain how the systems are organized and searched. The fourth step will involve thorough analysis of the systems in accordance of the preset criteria. Lastly, investigate the regular system commissions and fees. In case you come across any system which you are interested in, then you can proceed to view its system details.

This project entails creation of DIY Canvas Gallery Wrap. One of the great ways of marketing photography studios is through hanging a canvas wrap. It can be used to decorate your studio space or displaying images to the public (Brutzman, 2014). Canvas wraps forms an effective and efficient marketing tool. However, the method can be expensive to those people who keep on changing the canvas to the latest work or the available stock.

I would prefer to create a personal gallery wrap since this can save my cash through reduction of marketing costs and at the same time allowing frequent updates. To make gallery wraps in studio, simple materials are required such as canvas, stretcher bars, staple gun, staples, Pit Bull Gripper, pencil and scissors. The following procedure can be relied on by anyone to come up with a gallery canvas wrap. In the event you print your canvas to be used in a gallery wrap, it is likely that the sides will tend to wrap on the edges. Due to this, the finished canvas has white on the sides. To avoid such cases, you can enlarge your image by extending it on the borders so that these extensions are the ones to wrap. So when you are deciding on print size, you should allow for these extensions in excess of the wrap size needed.

After printing the image, it should be laid down flat with the face up so that it can be viewed. Then you can proceed to lay the stretcher base on top of the image and it should be straight and centered over the image. All the corners of the canvas should be marked using a pencil to show where the stretcher bar is to be positioned. The stretcher bars are later fixed on the canvas’s backside. After marking all the corners of the canvas, the canvas can be flipped over and stretcher bars placed on its top again. The canvas and the stretcher bars should be flipped in similar direction so to make sure the marks will exactly line up. Try to line up marks on the backside of the canvas with the stretcher bar corners (Brutzman, 2014).

If you want to a tight fit and good gallery wrap, it is mandatory to work in specified order. You can begin by slightly folding one corner of the canvas on the stretcher and then fixing it permanently using the staples. At this stage, you can fix some staples at the center of the canvas but corners should not be tacked. The pit pull griper can be used in this step so as to tighten the canvas before it is stapled. Then proceed to staple the other edges making the canvas is as tight as possible. By following this procedure, it is easy to make sure the whole wrap is tight enough.

Flip the canvas and then use the pit bull gripper to tighten it before stapling the middle part of the canvas. Pull and then staple every part of the edge by moving back and forth rather than straight across canvas so as to achieve uniform tightness. Fold the edges of the canvas firmly such that they are flat on the stretcher bar frame and any loose parts can be stapled. Pull the edges inwards so that the edges are clean. The extensions of the canvas can be trimmed to required size. After all the corners have been tacked, the excess canvas cut off and the canvas is uniformly tightened, then the job of making a simple canvas wrap is finished.

Project Specifications

In the marketing of products, people will look at your advert, they have a perception that the image is exaggerated and there is a 90% chance that what is displayed in the canvas does not conform to the real product, but they don’t bother. Desire to buy the product must be developed in them despite these perceptions. Product photography has the fantastic power to attract customers. Great products photography is doubtless method of improving e-commerce sales and at the same time increase shopping experience of the clients. Some online store investors will shy away from product photography due to misconception that this can only be done by certain expertise. This article provides a simple and cheap methodology of designing an online product gallery to market products.

In marketing my products, I would rather design my own product images for marketing purpose rather than hiring expertise who will charge their services expensively. First I would prepare the products starting with the ones which top among customer preferences. Depending on the target market, there are products which are needed by particular group of people (Gummesson, & Gummesson2017). These products are grouped together for the purpose of photo taking. I would also make sure the products are clean, polished, ironed or done anything else which improves their appeal. The products should be appearing fantastic before they are photographed.

Then the next step is the creation of a white backdrop. There is no specific size the “sweep” but it should be larger than your products. it is necessary to create the sweep in order the product photos to appear good. It should cover both horizontal and vertical surfaces which will be captured by the camera. In cases where the budget is not constrained, I would rather purchase a professional sweep from photography stores. The advantage of professional sweeps is that they have their own stands making it easy to set up and there is no need of shooting against walls. Also, professional sweeps save the time taken in editing photos. The photo will have the right contrast and brightness adjustments since sweep which is placed between the camera and product reflects some lights from the product. Dark colors are known to absorb light. If you take photo against dark backdrops, then the image will not have the needed brightness. The sweep gets right the white balance calibration of the camera reducing the needs for photo editing. Each source of light has a particular color temperature. Human brain adjusts to different temperatures by processing the colors for us. However, digital cameras just guess object’s true color through a white element embedded in its frame. For cameras to work out this easily, the camera is adjusted to ‘Auto White Balance’ (AWB). In case you are using a Smartphone to photograph, then turn off filters.

Next you can choose the source of light you can use. The main thing which determines the quality of a photo is the source of light used when the photo was taken. Having the best camera in world is not enough, you need also to consider the choice of light to use. Both artificial and natural sources of light can be used but when this is done in-built flash of the camera should be turned off. Photographing skills of manipulating the flash are needed so that you can get the good images. The shooting area has to well-lit to an extend camera flash is not needed. Natural light is the best since it is usually uniform provided there are no shadows. Suns brightness will vary throughout the day and therefore good timing is important. A fill light is used to reflect some light from any source of light used back to the product. However, when fill light is used light rays should be traveling from only one direction otherwise the image created may be blurred due to shadows and uneven lighting. The fill lights should be larger than the product.

The camera should be positioned on a stable place, so that the image taken is clear. Anything which is stable enough to hold the camera can be used. Tripod is the best tool of supporting the camera since it can be adjusted to the level of the product. Confirm whether the settings of the camera are as expected first. Depending on the color and how the room is lit, adjust camera settings so that it is capable of taking the best photos it can. Always select superfine and large options in the camera settings since your goal is to get clear and visible product images. Familiarize with your device thoroughly to master all the settings and where they work best.

Once photos are taken, the next step would be to create a template for the product images so that they can be optimized in the site. The products should be made to look great together in terms of the space they take in the canvas space. It is recommended to use a range of 1000px and 1600px in terms of template size. Online markets such as eBay and Amazon use this criterion. The image to be uploaded on the site is the ‘base image’. It is resized automatically so that it fits different templates in the e-Commerce store. The base image should be larger than the largest template so that the zoom feature of the website can function. You should not digitally enlarge your product image so that it fits on a template but you can make them smaller in size. The final step is to save the image into the website.

The use of Do-It-Yourself (DIY) can convert your website visitors into buyers. Product photos can transform your sales and conversion rates to higher level provided the display is excellent. Do not hesitate from creating images which look like exaggerated. Your goal is to create an image of the best product in the mind of customers.
